This Christmas Season, we at St. Peter Catholic Church will be joining forces with other churches in the Eaton Rapids Area to provide Christmas gifts and Christmas Dinners to families in the area through Project Christmas Love.
The mission is to Express God's love at Christmastime by coordinating food and children's gifts for individuals and families in need within our Eaton Rapids Community.
The goals are to provide temporary food assistance and help with children's gifts to all qualifying households living in the Eaton Rapids Public School District who are experiencing financial hardship and apply to this program.
The HOW-TO: In the Gathering Space, you will see a stack of brown paper shopping bags with a shopping list sticker on the front. You purchase what is on the list, place it in the bag and return it to the Gathering Space or the Church Office. The folks from Project Christmas Love will be picking up the bags on Tuesday, December 8th and prepare them for families to pick up.
Each Household Receives:
- Christmas Food Gift Box filled with grocery items for Christmas Day meals and beyond.
- Family Fare Gift Certificate to purchase items we cannot properly store and distribute, such as meat, frozen foods and dairy products.
- Store Gift Cards for Each Child, giving parents the Christmas shopping experience to select exactly what their child wants and/or needs.
To further help this program, if you would like to provide a $35 gift card to Walmart, Meijer, Target or Amazon, you may drop that into the collection basket marked: Project Christmas Love.
If you would like to help prepare the bags for families, the work will take place on Tuesday, December 8th beginning at 9:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Eaton Rapids.
This is not St. Vincent de Paul - this is a program run out of the Community Christian Action Group of Eaton Rapids, which is an all-volunteer, non-profit corporation and a public charity under the IRS Section 501(c)(3). Our St. Vincent de Paul Chapter will continue to provide food and clothing to all in need, regardless of where they live. Project Christmas Love is specific to Christmas and the Eaton Rapids Area.
Our St. Vincent de Paul will continue to provide food, clothing and financial assistance to families in need through the Christmas Season and beyond. Your support for them is still needed and appreciated. There are collection bins for pantry stable foods and a donation box in the Gathering Space. Thank you for all you do for our Parish and Community! May God richly bless you!
